Pastorelas y Posadas

12.21.2003
American Indian Community House

This all-day Mexican holiday event at the American Indian Community House marked the beginning of an annual December tradition. It included crafts, music, foodways and a procession with song and dance which evoked the search for lodging (posada) by Mary and Joseph. One of the highlights of the event was a traditional Shepherd's Play or Pastorela. The event culminated with a feast and the breaking of piñatas. The beginning of an annual December tradition.
